Kolkata: Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan has also entered the West Bengal election riots. Jaya Bachchan arrived in Kolkata on Sunday and will seek votes for Trinamool Congress (TMC) from April 5 to 8. Jaya is likely to share the stage with Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on April 7 and 8. Jaya's entry into Bengal has added to the political mercury.
Jaya Bachchan on Monday sought votes in favor of TMC candidate Arup Biswas from Taliganj. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Union Minister Babul Supriyo from this seat. The area of Taliganj is full of film artists. That is why the BJP has bet on singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo. Jaya Bachchan campaigned in Taliganj on Monday on the appeal of TMC.
The BJP's unrest has increased with the SP MP entering the fray. However, Babul Supriyo, who is contesting from Taliganj on a BJP ticket, is seen countering it. Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Monday said Jaya Bachchan may speak against the BJP but will never say anything against him. Talking to the media, Union Minister Babul Supriyo said, 'I welcome Jaya Bachchan in West Bengal, although I don't have a family relationship with her, she knows me very well, she will speak against the BJP, but she will never say anything against me.''
