Lucknow: The results of the recently held municipal elections have dashed the hopes of the return of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh. Congress is in a bad condition in the cities. The party has not got even a single seat on the mayor's seat, while the party had to face a crushing defeat in the election of the municipality and town panchayat president. After the results of the civic elections came out, the chair of Congress state unit president Brijlal Khabri is under threat. It is believed that in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the command can be handed over from the hands of Khabri to a big leader of Purvanchal?

After the humiliating defeat of the 2022 assembly elections in UP, the Congress high command had made Brijlal Khabri the state president in place of Ajay Kumar Lallu, but he also failed completely. It is going to be one year since Khabri took over the post, but neither he could field a candidate in the by-elections nor could he leave any mark in the body elections. Not only this, questions are also being raised in the party's inner room about the way he worked in the civic elections. Congress high command is also eyeing him.

Brijlal Khabri has been thrashed by the central leadership team of the Congress after the results of the UP civic elections and now his chair is under threat. Infighting in the party had come to the fore during the municipal elections, whose electoral effect has been seen on the result. In this election, the Congress has been able to register victory on the posts of 77 councilors in municipal corporations, chairman and 91 councilors in 4 municipal councils, while 14 town panchayat presidents and 77 ward members. Brijlal Khabri is being held responsible for the poor performance of the Congress.
