Indian badminton has changed in the last few years. The dominance of Indian players on the world stage is a testimony to the fact that the subcontinent has emerged as a badminton powerhouse in the global arena. To continue this, India needs to do a lot not only in development programs at the grassroots but also in the field of coaching. Badminton is an initiative by Gurukul, the quintessential badminton superstar and guru Pullela Gopichand, and former international shuttler Supriya Devgan, who is trying to address it further.

Talking about the initiative during a press conference in Mumbai today, Dronacharya Award-winning Indian national coach Pullela Gopichand said, 'We have such results internationally. The arena and the unexpected boom badminton has seen in the last few years, have seen a lot of badminton courts that have come up, and as a result, there is a growing need for quality badminton coaches across the country. Keeping all these in mind, Badminton Gurukul has come up with this unique knowledge-sharing platform, where we are engaging ex-players to come forward and share their experience with young and upcoming shuttlers.'
