The El Clásico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Now ended in a goalless (0–0) draw amid protests. This match happened after 17 years when no goals were scored in El Clasico. However, this contest was surrounded by controversies. Real Madrid alleges that they should have received a penalty twice, but the referee did not do so. Outside the stadium, protests were taking place demanding the independence of Catalonia from Spain and the match was going on inside. After this draw, Barcelona and Real Madrid have a similar 36–36 points in the points table, but the hosts are on top and manager Jeanadin Zidan are in second place on the basis of goal difference. The Barcelona team has won 11 out of 17 matches, drawn three matches and lost three. At the same time, Madrid also played the same number of matches in which it won 10, while six matches were won in draws and one.

Both teams got many opportunities to score goals in the match, but both of them did not take the opportunity. The guest team's star striker Gareth Bell scored, but was called off-side. Zidan's team was playing aggressively from the beginning and his players hit the goal post of the hosts 12 times. Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde had his legendary striker Leon Messi as the inspiration, but he disappointed and failed to score a single goal. He could not score goals ahead of Zidan and Ramos's strategy. Ramos blocked him from scoring in the 31st minute. Luka Modric of Madrid started grabbing his T-shirt to stop Messi.

The protesters tried to start the match late or interrupt the match, but the local police did not allow this to happen. Both teams reached the stadium safely and returned after the match with heavy security. Some people threw a yellow 'beach ball' in the empty areas on the pitch during the match. Earlier this match was to be held in October, but due to the protest it was postponed.
