Notification for holding by-elections for Barvel constituency has been issued on Friday. The Election Commission has appointed Deputy Collector Ketan Garg as the Returning Officer for the elections. The process of submission of nominations by the candidates has also started. With the release of the notification, the model code of conduct has come into force in Cuddapah district. Election Commission officials said that public meetings with more than 1,000 people should not be held under the Covid restrictions.

According to the notification, October 8 will be the last date for filing nominations, followed by scrutiny on the 11th. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations was fixed on 13th. Thereafter, polling will be held on October 30 and counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on November 2.

Badvelu constituency has Badvel, Gopavaram, Ataluru, B.V. There are 272 polling stations in Koduru, Porummila, Kashinayan and Kalasapadu divisions. Of these, 1,06,650 were male voters and 1,06,069 were female voters. However, the fresh list of new voters will be released soon. The by-election is set to be held in Badvel seat amid the death of sitting MLA Venkat Subbaiah due to illness. YSRCP has announced candidate as Dasari Sudha, wife of late MLA Venkata Subbaiah.
