Satyaraj is said to be the superstar of Tamil movies. 'Baahubali' made him famous all over India. Satyaraj started his film career in 1978. Satyaraj's mother did not want him to work in movies but Satyaraj's insistence made him Katappa. Satyaraj started his career with the film 'Sattam En Kaiyil.' Initially, Satyaraj used to get small characters in movies. From 1978 to 1985, Satyaraj worked in 75 movies. Satyaraj played Rajinikanth's father when he was 31. Rajinikanth was 35 years old at that time.

Few would know that Satyaraj has also acted in Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's 'Chennai Express.' He played Deepika's father in it. Satyaraj had a different look in the movie. Satyaraj married Maheshwari in 1979. Maheshwari is the niece of filmmaker Madhampatti Shivakumar. The two have a daughter Divya and a son Sibiraj. Sibiraj also works as an actor. Divya is a nutritionist.
