 In view of a bandh called by a number of Dalit organizations today to protest the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act, the Punjab government has ordered the suspension of bus services and mobile internet services. School and colleges will also remain closed today. Following the Bandh, CBSC class 10 and 12 exams to be held today have been delayed.

The final practical examinations of classes 10 and 12 of the Punjab School Education Board, scheduled for today will now be held on April 11.

The CBSE has postponed class 12 and class 10 examinations programmed to be held today in Punjab at the request of the state government in view of 'Bharat Bandh' called by several Dalit organisations against the alleged "dilution" of the SCs/STs Act.

Several Dalit organizations have called for a 'bandh' on Monday expressing concerns over the so-called "dilution" of SCs/STs Act following which the Punjab government has ordered the suspension of bus services and mobile internet services.

A security tightened up on as a preventive measure, while the Army and paramilitary forces have been asked to be on standby. Schools will remain lock and buses off the road tomorrow.

A spokesperson of the Punjab government said mobile Internet services in the state will remain suspended from 5 pm today till 11 pm tomorrow in a bid to monitor rumor mongering on social media.

All public and private transport will stay off the road during the bandh to put a stop to any annoying incident, the spokesperson said.

The orders were issued after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh reviewed the security arrangements with top police and administration officials in the evening.
