Bengaluru's metro service between Magadi Road and Challaghatta came to a halt recently when a young person jumped onto the tracks at Attiguppe station around 2:10 pm. The incident led to a suspension of services along this stretch, affecting commuters. However, trains between Magadi Road and Whitefield continued as usual.
Authorities from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) stated that the individual, believed to be a 19-year-old college student named Dhruv Thakkar from Mumbai, was taken to the hospital by Karnataka police for post-mortem examination. Initial investigations suggest a possibility of suicide, though no suicide note was found.
Following the incident, services on the purple line were briefly disrupted, with trains running only between Magadi Road and Whitefield. However, after police clearance, operations resumed on the purple line.
In a separate update, BMRCL recently introduced short-loop train services during morning peak hours between Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) and Garudacharpalya Metro Stations on weekdays. This move aims to facilitate easier commutes for passengers heading towards Trinity, Indiranagar, Benniganahalli, and KR Pura Metro stations, with trains scheduled every three minutes between 8:45 am and 10:20 am. These services will not be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
