Bangladesh: According to the official information, Bangladesh's Covid-19 vaccination campaign has reached a historic milestone by giving more than 100 million vaccine doses.
According to sources, a total of 1,00,002,123 vaccine doses were administered as of Wednesday, December 2, a statistic released on Thursday by the Ministry of Health's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) read. This consists of 73,172,360 Chinese vaccine doses. The first dose was given to 62,733,739 people, while the second dose was given to 37,268,384 people.
Bangladesh took around ten months to reach the goal of administering over 100 million vaccination doses. In January, Bangladesh launched the Covid-19 immunisation campaign to combat the pandemic that had spread across the country.
It is pertinent to note that Bangladesh is demonstrating what World Health Organisation has been advocating for – equitable access to vaccines. Inclusion is key to protecting vulnerable populations such as the refugees, for protecting their health and that of their host communities and societies.
