Dhaka: Bangladesh Health administration has given out 70 million Covid-19 vaccine doses so far, with the figure expected to reach 120 million by January next year if current trends continue, according to Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
Bangladesh is said to have purchased a total of 210 million doses of the vaccines, and there is currently no shortage. More than 30 million of the ordered vaccine doses are expected to arrive in the country this month, with another 30 million due in December, according to the Maleque. In January of this year, Bangladesh launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign to combat the pandemic that has swept the country.
However, after India abruptly banned vaccine exports, the Bangladeshi government was forced to halt the administration of the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The vaccination campaign with Chinese Sinopharm vaccines resumed in June in some parts of the country.
