Bengaluru: The state of Karnataka saw a 40 percent drop in Covid vaccinations in October, causing concern among health officials. According to the state health department, the number of Covid vaccinations has decreased by 40 percent in October compared to September. The department has identified 4.87 crore people over the age of 18 who will benefit from the programme. 4.26 crore people had received their first dose as of November 4th. People appear to have lost interest in getting themselves inoculated, according to health experts, as the number of Covid cases in the state has decreased.

Approximately 60 lakh people have not yet been vaccinated. The state has set a goal of achieving 100 percent vaccination by December, which appears difficult given the low vaccination rates. "After the lifting of restrictions undermining the importance of vaccination, people have gotten into a relaxed mode," they said. A total of 75 lakh people were vaccinated with the first dose in August, with the number rising to 78 lakh in September. However, the number of people vaccinated fell to 32 lakh in October, posing a challenge to the Health Department, which is aiming for 100 percent vaccination by December.
