Dhaka: A Bangladeshi cleric has issued a fatwa over Facebook's smiley emoji. Bangladeshi Maulana Ahmadullah has issued a fatwa against Facebook's 'Ha Ha' emoji, terming it haram in Islam. In the eyes of this Maulana, the 'Ha Ha' emoji is haram in Islam. Maulana has millions of followers on social media and is also seen discussing religious topics on TV shows a day in and day out.

Ahmadullah uploaded the three-minute-long video on Facebook on Saturday. In the video, he issued a fatwa against the 'Ha Ha' emoji, discussing the making of people's jokes on Facebook and saying it was haram for Muslims. In the video, Maulana says, "Nowadays we use Facebook's Ha Ha emoji to make fun of people.'' The video has been viewed more than 20 lakh times so far.

In the video, Ahmadullah says, 'If we use 'Ha Ha' for laughter and the person who posts understands it the same way, there is no problem, but if your reaction is given to mock people, it is completely haram in Islam.'' Ahmadullah further said, 'For Allah, you should stop yourself from doing so. Don't use haha emoji to ridicule people. If you make a Muslim unhappy, he may respond in such vulgar language that is not expected.'
