Dhaka: Once again a case of attack on Hindus is reported from Bangladesh. Here a group of radical Muslims have attacked more than 10 Hindu families in Korbanpur village under Muradnagar Upazila in Komila district. According to media reports, the houses of Hindu families were vandalized and later set on fire.
It is being told that a person made some comments on the Charlie Hebdo cartoon in solidarity with France on Facebook. The person is identified as Shankar Debnath. The mob also set fire to the office and house of Bankumar Shiva, the chairman of the local Sangh Parishad, as well as the houses of other Hindu families in the area. Video of this incident is going viral on social media. In the video, violent crowd was seen vandalizing house of Hindus.
Twitter user Joy Chakraborty has claimed that the police has not taken any action against arsonists and miscreants, but has jailed two Hindus for commenting on Facebook. He said that the incident continued for about 5 hours. Shankar and another person named Anik Bhowmick were arrested on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
