Bangladeshi Teen wins 2020 International Children's Peace Prize

The International children’s rights organization, KidsRights, 2020 International Children’s Peace Prize was given to a Bangladeshi teen Sadat Rahman. The prize was awarded every year to the child who fights courageously for children’s rights. Sadat was awarded the prestigious prize for his work to stop cyber bullying of teens. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai give away the prize during a ceremony in the Netherlands. 

Out of 142 applicants from 42 countries, Sadat effort to fight bullying Teens has won over other nominations. Sadat has created an anti-cyber bullying app ‘Cyber Teens’ to help teenagers who are sufferers of cyber bullying. The app provides information to the young people about  internet safety. Most importantly, the app enables the victims to safely report the cyberbullying confidentially. An organisation comprising of has been formed by Sadat and he addresses teens through seminars and meetings to create awareness about issues related to cyber bullying. The KidsRights Organizations has informed that 'Cyber Teen' application has supported over 300 victims till now. 

The prize was launched by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome, chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev. Since then, the prize has been presented every year by a Nobel Peace Laureate. The Prize acts as a platform to promote the ideas of the winners. The winner receives a scholarship to obtain education till the university degree. A project fund of Euro 1 lakh is invested by the KidsRights in projects that are closely connected to the winners’ area of work in their country.
