Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was born today. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was a highly respected writer of Bengali. He was enriched with literary, linguistic as well as sensitive vision, which enabled him to create compositions considered to symbolize not only Bengali but also the entire Indian identity. Many people called him Bankim Babu. He was not only a famous Bengali novelist, poet, prose, and journalist, but his writing had a huge impact on other languages as well. He is the author of 'Vande Mataram', which has gained a reputation as a national song in India.

'Vande Mataram' was a source of inspiration for revolutionaries during the Indian freedom struggle movement, even today nationalists take pride in it. Thinkers associated with social, educational movement in the upliftment of Bangla society, literature and culture, Raja Rammohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Pyarichand Mitra, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, and Thakur Rabindranath Tagore, Vivekananda, Dayanand Saraswati, etc. played a vital role and this had an impact on the linguistic prosperity of the entire country. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was born into a rich, but traditional Bengali family in a village called Kanthalpada in North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.

He completed his elementary education in Medinipur and then took admission in  Hooghly Mohsin College. Bankim Chandra was interested in books since childhood and he was also initially drawn towards the Anglo-language, saying that his interest in English ended when his English teacher scolded him badly. He began to have an affection for his mother tongue. He held the post of deputy magistrate. He wrote a number of novels including Kapalakundla in 1866, Mrinalini in 1869, Vishvriksha in 1873, Chandrasekhar in 1877, Rajni in 1877, Raj Singh in 1881 and Devi Chaudhurani in 1884. Apart from this, he had also written texts like 'Sitaram', 'Kamala Kanter Daptar', 'Krishna Kantar Vill', 'Vigyan Mystery', 'Lokarahasya', 'Dharmatattva'. Today he is not in this world, but people like his creations a lot.
