Suryapet: A large number of women celebrated Bathukamma festival on the banks of Saddula pond. Women of all ages enthusiastically participated in the event. Suryapet took the form of a festival. The area lit up with colorful lights. Addressing the gathering at the function, Energy Minister G Jagadeesh Reddy said that Telangana is known for cultures and traditions and said that Bathukamma is a symbol for the rich culture of the state.

He said that the Bathukamma festival also signifies the relationship between nature and human life and the relationship between flowers and women. He said that the state government has declared Bathukamma as a state festival and is distributing saris to women to celebrate the nine days of the festival in a grand manner in the state. The minister said that every year 40,000 women play Bathukamma in the local Saddala Cheruvu.

He said that the popularity of Saddala Talab has increased due to Bathukamma festival. On the initiative of Chief Minister KCR, the Saddala pond has been modernized as a mini tank dam. He congratulated the women participating in the grand event. A large number of people gathered at Saddala Cheruvu and witnessed the ceremony and termed it as a visual feast.
