NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to the recognition of the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA). This organization was founded to take care of the interests of former players. The ICA, however, is not related to the Federation of International Cricketers (FICA). It is to talk about the interests of former male and female Indian cricketers. However, in most countries, such organizations are related to former sportspersons associated with all sports. The ICA has been officially recognized by the BCCI.
It is a non-profit company, which has been included under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 on July 5, 2019. In its notice to the ICA, the BCCI has made it clear that till its next notice, BCCI does not recognize any other organization of former cricketers other than ICA. The ICA will be independent of the BCCI's operations and the organization will have to raise its own funds. In the beginning, however, the board will provide some grants (financial assistance). At present, former cricketers Kapil Dev, Ajit Agarkar, and Shanta Rangaswamy are among the directors of ICAC. The three members will continue in their respective posts till the election of the committee.
