New Delhi: On the occasion of Republic Day, the whole world saw the strength of the Indian Republic in the tableau on Rajpath. But this Republic Day event has not ended on 26 January and will conclude today with the Beating Retreat Ceremony. After three days of 26 January every year, Republic Day celebrations will end with a beating retreat ceremony on 29 January.

Explain that in the Beating Retreat Ceremony, the paramilitary force BSF is also included along with the band of the three armies. This ceremony is also very important for the country and Republic Day. The real name of the Beating Retreat Ceremony is 'Watch Setting' and this ceremony takes place when the sun sets. On June 18, 1690, King James II of England ordered his troops to play drums when their troops returned.

In 1694, William Third issued a new order to the regiment's Captain to greet the Troops by playing drums in the streets when they returned. Nowadays armies of Commonwealth countries perform this ceremony as a tradition. Some people consider this program a test for new band members to prove their skill, while some consider it as a way to practice hard drills.
