Excise Department steel on cannabis cultivation in the state

The excise department has prepared the field to put steel on cannabis cultivation and trafficking in the state. It has now prepared the action to deal more strategically. Cannabis cultivation is the agency center in Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts. Trafficking is on. Smugglers in Visakhapatnam Agency are cultivating cannabis with the tribals  West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana are being transported illegally.

The cannabis cultivation season will begin from November. The excise department has planned to prevent cultivation this year. The government has appointed additional commissioner of excise, K Bhaskar as the nodal officer of the state.  The Narcotics Control Bureau under the Union Home Ministry will hold a meeting on Thursday with all the states to fully control cultivation in 2020-21.

The plan is to conduct a special operation at Paderu in Visakhapatnam district to eliminate cannabis cultivation starting in November with space technology information.  From September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020, 31,360 kg of cannabis has been seized in the last one year. The excise department has destroyed cannabis plantations in 512 acres. In 17 villages in Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts, 25.62 lakh cannabis plants were removed by conducting cannabis eradication programs. In the same villages, 358 kg of dry Marijuana was burnt.

We have identified cannabis cultivation in the agency areas of Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts as well as districts in the Nallamala forest area. We have created action to eradicate cultivation and prevent trafficking. We will take action according to the instructions of the Union Home Ministry. We will take the police's cooperation in this regard.
