New Delhi: Manipur CM N Biren Singh has said that PM Narendra Modi had assisted two players for good medical care and training in the US before going to the Tokyo Olympics. He said that when he met Prime Minister Modi this week, he had thanked Prime Minister Modi for helping Mirabai Chanu.

He said Mirabai Chanu had told him about the assistance received from Prime Minister Modi at a public function. He said, 'I was surprised by his revelations. She had also said that she would not have succeeded in her mission if she had not had the opportunity to go to the US and conduct muscle operations and practice.' Apart from Mirabai Chanu, he also helped another player, the Chief Minister said. He was just smiling when I thanked him, he said. He said Chanu had a ban pen and when the message went to the PMO, Prime Minister Modi himself arranged for his treatment and training.

When Mirabai Chanu went to attend the Tokyo Olympics-2020 this time, everyone expected her to win a medal. Mirabai, like every player, had dreamt of an Olympic medal, which was fulfilled, but there was a time when she saw her dream being shattered. Chanu's shoulder was aching as the Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed for a year and last year was not practiced as corona-caused lockdown, which caused the weightlifter to suffer.
