Shanti Krishna who played Mammootty's wife Valsala in Naeem Vyakhamakannu is seen in the role of a director: Balachandra Mennaman I was returning to Malayalam cinema via Naeem Vyakhamakkanunnu after a break. While making my debut in Nidra in 1981, I was new to the field and was curious, so I was not stressed. I left the industry in 1984 and when Balachandra Menon came to me in 1991 to do Sir Name Vyakulamakunnu, I was going through depression due to the ups and downs in my life. I initially said no to him because I had lost all my confidence. I also gained a lot of weight. After they persuaded me, I put a condition that I would come on the set, do a sequence and if it didn't work, I would leave. They just asked me to join it, nobody can forget acting.

Mammukka also gave me a lot of confidence. On the first day, I was really nervous. The first shot of the first day of shooting was the long shot, with which the film begins, where I am busy with household chores when the bell rings. There was a disturbance inactivity during the shot and I was really surprised when we got it right in a flow at the first take, and Balachandran sir cheered and appreciated me. It was quite a confidence booster. Even the fact that I was on the heavier side worked to my advantage, as I play the role of a teacher cum wife and mother in the film. During the shoot of the climax, I lost a lot of weight due to my dance performance. He also helps in the film, as I was playing the role of a disgruntled wife and was unhappy with it.

The chemistry between my character Valsala and Mammuka, who played my husband PV Sukumaran, is still alive in people's minds. Many still tell me about my short reaction shots to my screen husband. The climax sequence was shot at All St Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram. The hall was crowded with girls who had come to catch a glimpse of Mammooka, whose character PV Sukumaran had now graduated to become a minister. In the movie, the girls had to boo when the minister makes his speech, but the girls hesitated to do so because it is mamuka. Then Balachandran Sir had to explain to him, reminding him that it was just acting. The climax came out really well with my shots, standing on the edge of the stage while Mammukka making his emotional speech.
