Bengal Drugs Case: Sweety arrested after BJP Leader Pamela

Kolkata: Police investigation has intensified in the drugs case which came to the headlines before the assembly elections in West Bengal. In this case, after the arrest of Pamela Goswami, the youth leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), another girl has been arrested. The arrested girl has been identified as Priyanka alias, Sweety. By this evening, the police will produce her in the court and ask for her remand.

According to the police, Sweety has been arrested from New Town. Sweety has been an associate of BJP leader Rakesh Singh arrested in the same case. In a statement released on Tuesday morning, Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Kolkata Police Muralidhar Sharma said that in the initial interrogation of Sweety, he has admitted that he is an associate of Rakesh Singh and had helped him in buying cocaine.

According to the police, a preliminary investigation has revealed that she used to purchase cocaine from an alcoholic smuggler at the rate of Rs 9500 per gram and would take it to Rakesh Singh. He will be presented in court today i.e. on Tuesday. Pamela Goswami was arrested by the police of Kolkata's New Alipore police station with about 100 grams of heroin, which made the headlines in the whole country. Pamela Goswami accused Rakesh Singh of trapping her.
