Bengaluru FC lost AFC cup final but made history

It was heartbreaking but the efforts should be appreciated. Guys could have made the record of winning the AFC cup for the first time but they have already made the history by reaching the finals of the AFC cup. AFC cup is the tier 2 club championship in Asia. In finals, Indian club has lost a close match 1-0 to the Iraq air force club team.

The national club has shown the good efforts and the captain Sunil Chhetri has already shared that their club is best in the country. In the past 3 months, they have achieved the good milestone. Defeat is hard to digest but your efforts make you feel better. The guys have put their best but the opponents were little tough for the encounter.

Bengaluru was simply outplayed by Air Force Club, despite a sizeable expatriate crowd egging on them at the stadium and lot of support from the sports fraternity at home, as they got very few scoring chances while the Iraqi side had several of them, especially in the second half and the closing stages of the match.

This was the first time an Iraqi side won the AFC Cup title after Erbil Club finished runners-up twice in 2012 and 2014. Despite the loss and heartbreak, Bengaluru will return home with their heads held high as they set a benchmark for Indian clubs by reaching thus far. Before them, only two clubs - Dempo in 2008 and East Bengal in 2013 - had reached the semi-finals of the AFC Cup.
