Bengaluru: Former councilor Rakib Zakir has been arrested by the Crime Branch in the violence case in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of the Central Crime Branch has given information about this. On 11 August, violence erupted in the Deora Jeevanhalli and Kadugondanahalli areas of Bangalore, killing four people.
Earlier, in August, the NIA raided various places, including the offices of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political unit of the Popular Front of India (PFI), in connection with a violent attack on the city's police stations and riots. During the investigation, several inflammatory materials related to SDPI and PFI were found and weapons like swords, knives, sticks were seized. An agency official said that 124 accused in the case of DJ Halli police station and 169 accused in KG Halli police station have been arrested so far.
Let us tell you that the whole affair is believed to have started with an alleged inflammatory social media post, which was posted by Naveen, nephew of Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy. Following which violence started in Bengaluru on 11 August, in which four people were killed. However, the post was deleted as the situation worsened, but by then rioters started spreading violence. The Bangalore police had registered 65 cases and arrested more than 350 people in the case.
