Recently Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark stated the development and design of the first model, which will arrive in late 2025, is well advanced. "We are familiar with the battery and its performance. The final design will take a few weeks to a few months to complete. [The car] will be a supplement to the ones we now have and will not compete with anything we do. We want to develop a category as well as an electric car."

The five vehicles will not all be built on the same platform - "some will be taller, others will be lower," according to Hallmark - but they will all be built on the same Volkswagen Group architecture.

He went on to say that battery technology has progressed quickly, helping the firm to achieve its objectives. "We didn't have a definite commitment to a battery technology that would be enough for the car that we've now verified even a year ago." We can now construct an automobile that is as large as the one we have presently. When I consider my late twenties, it's a significant stride ahead."

He noted that the first two to three electric models would have a lot in common in terms of battery technology and that later models will be able to incorporate new innovations. After that, these enhancements will be "retro-applied" to the initial batch of Bentley EVs. He verified that the initial model will have a range of much over 300 kilometres.

Alain Favey, the company's director of sales and marketing, emphasised that charging an electric vehicle must be a truly pleasant experience. "For our customers, the speed and convenience of charging away from home is perhaps the most significant factor. We've got time to work on it." The first electric vehicle will be constructed at Bentley's Crewe facility, with the company committing £2.5 billion (about Rs 25,000 crore) to the site and research and development over the next decade, with a particular focus on sustainability.

Bentley will build a new greenfield plant next to its Crewe base. The so-called 'Dream Factory,' as a whole, aims to become a digital, low-impact, adaptable, and high-value manufacturing facility.
