Sleeping Positions That Affect Your Breasts

Studies show that if you sleep on your stomach or on your sides, then your breasts are likely to change shapes. This, of course, will happen if you continue the same sleep position for quite a period of time. Specifically, sleeping by keeping your face downwards can be bad for your breasts. This is because; in that case, they will be pressed against your bed for many hours. On the other hand, a slumber on your sides can cause your breasts’ ligaments strained and stretched. Still, if you prefer sleeping on your sides, then support your breasts by placing a pillow under them. Many women prefer wearing a bra while sleeping. If you want to tread that path as well, then make sure to consult a lingerie expert.

Avoid Sleep Lines

There are certain sleeping positions that lead to sleep lines and other symptoms of premature wrinkles- sometime that no woman wants to fall a victim to. For example, sleeping on your stomach or on your side can result in formation of wrinkles. You might be wondering why these sleeping positions affect your skin. It has everything to do with two major causes of wrinkles- namely gravity and repetitive motions. When you sleep in any of the above-mentioned positions, you actually push your skin to different positions that bear similarity to repetitive facial motions. Consequently, your skin begins to lose its elasticity and you start developing fine lines around your mouth and crow’s feet in the eye areas. Similarly, when you lie on your sides, you permit gravity to push facial skin from one side to the other, thus causing wrinkles on your face. On the other hand, you’ll be able to avoid this issue by sleeping on your back. When you sleep in this position, you do not push your face into positions that cause wrinkles.

Choosing A Position When You Are Pregnant

It is best to sleep on your side when you are expecting- try to sleep on your left in particular. This might improve blood flow, thus benefiting your baby. This will also help to supply more nutrients through the placenta. There are some additional benefits of sleeping in this position. For example, it will help your kidneys to effectively clean up fluids and waste products from your body. This, in turn, will help reduce the swelling in your hands, feet and ankles. Ideally, train yourself to sleep in this position from your first trimester. Sleep in this position whenever possible. You might find it uncomfortable to sleep in one position all night long. In that case, you can consider turning side by side carefully. Of course, you’ll need to favor your left side. Sleeping or resting on your back is a big no-no throughout the gestation period, particularly when you are in your final trimester. This is because; when you are sleeping in this position, your uterus’ weight spreads on your back muscles, spine, and major blood vessels as well as on your intestines, thus giving way to unbearable pain. It can even lead to insufficient circulation and hemorrhoids. Plus, it can even drop your blood pressure, thereby leading to dizziness.

Sleeping Position To Ease Back Pain

If you are suffering from low back pain, then you can sleep on your side, with your legs placed together. Keep your knees aligned. In this way, you will place minimum stress on your body. Your pelvis won’t hurt. This sleeping position is also very comforting and calming for your nerves. Place a plush pillow between your legs for extra comfort.

However, in any case, you might prefer sleeping in the position that you find to be most comfortable. So there is no harm in trying different sleeping positions, one at a time for some days to check which one fits you optimally. Have a good night’s sleep always.
