New Delhi: The Northeast Frontier Railway is running a ticket checking campaign for rail travel. Due to this, between April 2021 and March 2022, about 4,48,392 cases have been reported where passengers were found traveling without tickets or irregular tickets and with unbooked luggage. Under this ticket checking drive, Northeast Frontier Railway has collected a record amount of Rs 23.36 crore as fare and fine from the culprits.

Talking about the same, NRF's CPRO Sabyasachi Dey said that this year the number of penal cases is 840.83 percent more as compared to last year. At the same time, if we talk about recovery of fine, then there is an increase of 1028.50 percent. According to Sabyasachi Dey, due to the checking of all stations and trains, the RPF of NFR has caught 50701 people traveling without proper tickets from April 2021 to March 2022. Out of which 25 convicts were prosecuted under various sections of the Railway Act and fined were also collected from them.

At the same time, a case was registered against 16 persons. He further said that the Northeast Frontier Railway conducts ticket checking drive daily. Let us tell you, according to section 137 of the Indian Railways Act 1989, traveling without ticket, improper ticket or unbooked baggage is a punishable offense. In such a situation, if a passenger is found violating these rules of the railway, then he may have to pay jail or fine or both jail and fine.
