New Delhi: The police have taken the owner of the building into custody in the case of the death of 5 people, including four students, due to the roof collapse of the under-construction coaching center at Subhash Mohalla near Bhajanpura on Saturday, 25 January 2020. The accused caught there was operating a coaching center in the building for the last three-four years. There is also a brother of Shankar among those killed. The police said that there were 30 children in coaching at the time of the accident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police told that there was a coaching center on the second floor in the name of Educational Point in street number-6 of Subhash Mohalla. Two more youths were driving it. The roof of the coaching center was made of guarder-slab. For some days, the work of building another floor above the coaching center was going on. At around 4:30 pm, the upper floor wall fell and the roof of the house also fell. At the same time, it is also being said that the teachers Umesh and Sujatha, who were teaching in different classes in the rooms below, were overwhelmed. The local people fled for help after hearing the loud sound of debris falling. 6 children buried under the debris were immediately evacuated and taken to the nearest Jagpravesh Chand Hospital. The doctors there declared 4 children and teacher Umesh dead. Those who lost their lives as Farhan, Krishna, Disha, and Kritika Tyagi. All the children who died were from nearby houses. On the other hand, the rest of the children from Jagpravesh Chand Hospital were referred to GTB Hospital.

According to information received from sources, BJP President and MP of the area Manoj Tiwari visited the spot. He announced one lakh each to the relatives of the deceased and 25 thousand rupees to the injured. After this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrived and an inquiry has been made to investigate the matter and provide assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased.
