New Delhi: India Biotech on Tuesday said that the supply of covid-19 anti-covaccine vaccine to the Central government at the rate of Rs 150 per dose is not affordable for a long time. He said the price structure in the private sector is also changing due to the centre's supply fee, which is increasing.

Terming the higher rate for covaccine as reasonable as compared to other anti-covid vaccines available for the private sector in India, Bharat Biotech said that there are many basic business reasons for low procurement, higher cost of distribution and retail profits etc. "The supply price of Covaccine vaccine to the Government of India at Rs 150 per dose is a non-competitive price and is clearly not affordable for a long time," the company said.

Bharat Biotech said in a statement that it is necessary to keep a higher price in the private market to meet the cost. It said India has so far invested more than Rs 500 crore to set up a construction unit for Biotech Vaccine development, clinical trials and vaccines.
