NEW DELHI: The Congress party on Tuesday, August 23, officially launched the website and tagline for the pan-India 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' scheduled to begin on September 7 from Kanyakumari.
It was said that the yatra's purpose is to bring India together, to come together and help the nation get back on its feet. Veteran politicians Digvijaya Singh and Jairam Ramesh jointly unveiled the event's comprehensive schedule.
The yatra, which will get underway on September 7 and last for roughly 150 days, will cover a distance of nearly 3,500 kilometres while travelling through 12 states before coming to an end in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rahul Gandhi and other prominent figures will take part in the march. Those who can't physically join will support the organization's message by planning events and taking part in internet campaigns. At various locations, people from all walks of life will join it, and they will march together. It will be a celebration of India's unity and a festival of optimism, brought to life with musical performances and open competitions. "Everyone is cordially invited to join us and stroll with us. India is our collective property. The "Bharat Jodo Yatra" is open to anyone." said the party.
According to the party, economic inequality is growing as the rich become richer and the poor get poorer, adding that rising unemployment and inflation are upsetting the general public.
Debt is engulfing Khet Mazdoors and Kisans. Our nation's assets are being sold at a significant loss to crony capitalists. The party said that "socially, people are being divided on the basis of caste, religion, area, language, food, and clothes," and that each day, a fresh plot is devised to incite conflict between Indians. Insecurity is on the rise, particularly among women.
Politically, it stated, people's voices are being silenced and our constitutional rights are being violated. Systematic efforts are being made to undermine our Constitution, undermine our institutions, undermine our democracy, and undermine our togetherness and fraternity.
Money power and the abuse of government agencies are threatening state governments that the people have elected. "The Union government is not paying the states' tax obligations on time. Backward castes such as Dalits and Adivasis are being denied their fundamental rights, including Jal, Jangal, and Zameen ".
The Party advised coming together, holding hands, and realising the strength of unity to address this. The statement read, "We must launch a movement to end the politics of hatred and division, establishing societal peace following the tenets of 'Unity in Diversity' and 'Sarva Dharma Sambhava'."
