New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his grandmother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi on Monday, at her monument Shakti Sthal in the capital today.

He also paid a tribute to his father and another former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi, a memorial dedicated to the latter.

Since September 7, Rahul Gandhi has been leading the more than 3,500-kilometer-long "Bharat Jodo Yatra" from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. He is currently taking a nine-day respite in the capital city. On January 3, the foot march will resume.

Last week MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra refused to call the assassinations of the two former Prime Ministers as sacrifices made for the nation.

Mishra responded to Mallikarjun Kharge's "dog" remark, in which Kharge said in parliament that Congress leaders had given their life for the nation and asked, "Did BJP leaders do the same?"

On December 24, Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived in the capital. The rally travelled to Badarpur in southeast Delhi from the Haryana city of Faridabad.

As the march made its way to the Red Fort, Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra walked among hundreds of other participants for the first time. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi also attended the yatra.

On December 24 in Delhi, legendary actor Kamal Haasan, the president of Makkal Needhi Maiam, also participated in the yatra.

The 100-day threshold for the foot march was reached on December 23 in Rajasthan.
Riya Sen, Riteish Deshmukh, Swara Bhaskar, Pooja Bhatt, and other Bollywood celebrities have already taken part in the yatra.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has also covered through areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Haryana in addition to Rajasthan.
