THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was headed by Rahul Gandhi covered Kerala and left the state on Thursday from the Malappuram district. In Tamil Nadu, the Yatra's second session will continue. The Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Kerala on September 10 evening and traversed the state for 18 days. The 3,570 km and 150-day-long foot march started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7 and will conclude in Jammu and Kashmir.

It was a celebration for the Congress party's workers and supporters ever since it crossed the border into Kerala from Tamil Nadu, as was evident during the whole election season, even after the final day of nominations on Friday.
The Kerala Yatra spanned 453 miles in 19 days, including two days of rest, and visited 12 of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in addition to 43 of the 140 assembly districts.

About 5,000 people participated in the Yatra in the morning session, while 25,000 people, including participation leaders from all rungs, to have participated in the evening session. It appears that the party has received the much-needed boost.

The Yatra also hit a low point when two separate incidences of pickpocketing were reported, Congress members were alleged to have defected to the BJP, and daily developments in Delhi regarding the turmoil inside the party over its new president.

The fact that Kerala's Congress leaders, who are notorious for their intra-party disputes, stood together and put aside their factional feuds was the event's biggest accomplishment.
