Thrissur: After taking a day off, the Congress resumed their Bharat Jodo Yatra from Perambra junction in the Thrissur district of Kerala on Saturday. As the Bharat Jodo Yatra continues after a break, workers and residents of Thrissur turned out in great numbers to support Rahul Gandhi and all of the Padyatris.

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, arrived in Delhi on Thursday night, and the party has started its Yatra again with him today. 

The yatra left Perambra junction at 6.30 am and arrived at Amballur junction at 10 am for their morning break. The leaders, employees, and supporters of the party are scheduled to take an evening break at Swaraj Round road near Vadakkumathan South Gate at 7 pm after the yatra resumes at 5 pm from Talore Bypass junction.

As the Bharat Jodo Yatra approaches its 16th day of the 3,500-km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, the yatris will be staying at Thope Stadium in Thrissur. In five months, the march hopes to pass through as many as 12 states.

The Yatra would depart from Kerala and travel through the state for a few days before arriving in Karnataka on September 30. Before travelling further north, it will spend 21 days in Karnataka. Every day, the Padyatra (march) will travel 25 kilometres. Before today's deadline for submitting nominations for the Congress presidential election in the nation's capital, which will end on September 30, the Bharat Jodo Yatra took a "much-deserved respite."

On October 17, Congress will pick a new president, and the results will be announced on October 19.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, said on Friday that Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that he will run for president of the Congress "No member of the Gandhi family would succeed Rahul Gandhi as the party's leader, as I previously stated that I would do so once all of the Congress Committees had passed resolutions to that effect. No one from the Gandhi family will succeed him as chief, he made plain. A non-Gandhi family member will lead the party, he claimed, explaining his decision "Gehlot made the statement while participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kerala and speaking to the media.

Rahul Gandhi stressed the "one person, one post" rule earlier on Thursday and expressed his confidence that the party's adherence to its Udaipur proclamation will be upheld in the contest for the top position. Rahul Gandhi called the job of Congress president an "ideological post" that "represents a set of beliefs, a belief system, and a vision of India."

Gandhi responded to a query at a news conference on the fifteenth day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra by saying, "You are assuming a role. A specific perception of India is defined and has been determined by this historical situation. It is not merely an administrative position. The position of president of Congress represents an ideology and a set of values. Whoever is elected president should keep in mind that he or she represents a set of beliefs, a way of thinking, and a vision for India."  Congress has pledged to uphold the principle of "one person, one post," and I anticipate that it will (on the party's presidential post), he said.

Shashi Tharoor, a party member who met Sonia Gandhi on Monday, has also indicated that he plans in contesting polls. He spoke with Madhusudan Mistry, the head of the Congress Central Election Authority, on Wednesday.
