NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have filed an FIR against Chief Minister Atishi, the AAP candidate from Kalkaji, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and obstructing public servants. The case was registered on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Govindpuri Police Station.

The police action comes just a day before the Delhi Assembly elections. Authorities said Atishi was found with around 50-70 supporters and 10 vehicles at Fateh Singh Marg, despite MCC guidelines restricting such gatherings. When asked to disperse, she and her group allegedly obstructed an officer from carrying out his duties.

Earlier, Atishi had accused Manish Bidhuri, the nephew of BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, of violating the MCC by roaming around in Kalkaji, even though he wasn’t a voter there. She had posted on X (formerly Twitter), urging authorities to act against him. In response, the Delhi Police registered a case against Manish Bidhuri and another individual for violating the MCC.

Atishi also accused the police of "hooliganism," claiming they had assaulted a local boy for recording a video. The DCP South East Delhi responded by confirming that an FIR had also been filed against Atishi for her involvement in the alleged MCC violation.

As Delhi prepares for the elections on February 5, 2025, the results will be announced on February 8.

Reacting to this development, Arvind Kejriwal - the AAP national convenor, in a post on  social media X said “EC filed a police case against Delhi CM after she complained about the open hooliganism.

So now this is the official stand of Delhi Police and EC - The JOB of the Delhi Police and the Ec is to indulge themselves  in hooliganism against the AAP, provide protection to the hooliganism of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and distribute goods, liquor, and money, and if If anybody stops them from doing this WORK a case will be charged against him for obstructing the   work of the police and the EC,” Kejriwal  added.
