DUMKA - JHARKHAND: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) marked its 46th foundation day with a strong political statement, passing a resolution to reject the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Uniform Civil Code (UCC),  in Jharkhand.

The event took place at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka on Sunday night, where the party outlined 50 resolutions, including a demand for stricter enforcement of the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and Santal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act. The JMM also urged the central government to clear Rs 1.36 lakh crore in pending dues owed to the state.

Speaking to a large crowd, Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticized the Union government, claiming Jharkhand was ignored in the recent budget. He accused groups with a "feudal mindset" of trying to hold back the progress of the state’s tribal communities. "In spite of contributing heavily to the national economy and being rich in minerals, Jharkhand remains one of the most backward states," Soren said. He called for equal treatment of all states, especially those still developing.

Soren also criticized the budget, labeling it as favoring the rich while offering little for the poor. "Tax rebates are useless when inflation is rising, and there’s no GST relief," he said. He dismissed the government's GYAN (Garib, Yuva, Annadata, Nari) initiative as a scheme focused on loans rather than direct support.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha further demanded strict enforcement of Santal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act,  Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act. In addition, they urged the union government to settle promptly Rs 1.36-La-Cr dues owed to Jharkhand.

Highlighting Jharkhand’s welfare achievements, Soren noted that it was the first state to provide Rs 2,500 monthly aid to women. Taking a swipe at the BJP, he said, "They call our schemes ‘revri’ (freebies), but now they promise the same in Delhi. When we do it, it’s wrong; when they do it, it’s fine?"
