Gruesome incident! Bharuch welfare hospital caught fire, 16 died

Ahemdabad: A major fire broke out at Bharuch Welfare Hospital in Gujarat. The incident took place at 1 am on Saturday. According to district collector Dr Modhya, the count of patients who lost their lives reaches to at least 16 in the incident.

The covid patients died due to the fire and smoke, Bharuch Superintendent of Police Rajendrasinh Chudasama said. Chudasama further said that the fire broke out in the ICU due to a short circuit have been doused. The incident is reported of ICU one unit at Patel Welfare COVID Hospital. The reason is said to be short circuit at around 12.30 am in the hospital. The fire has been doused off. Around 70 patients were admitted at the four-storeyed hospital, of which 24 were in the intensive care unit. All the survivors, rescued by locals and firefighters, have now been shifted to nearby hospitals.

The Covid-19 designated hospital is located on the Bharuch-Jambusar highway, about 190 km from the state capital Ahmedabad.
