Dehradun: The resentment among the people about the reservation of promotions gradually increasing day by day, has taken a terrible form today. During the proposed Bharat Bandh of the Bheem Army on Sunday, strict security arrangements will be made in Uttarakhand. Police patrolling in sensitive areas has been increased by dividing the city into zones and sectors. Police has been instructed to take action against those forcibly detained. The bandh supporters will take out a procession in the city and submit a memorandum to the administration.

According to the information received, the Bhim Army and its affiliated organizations have called for a Bharat Bandh on Sunday, 23 February 2020, to demand reservation in promotions, withdrawal of Indian citizenship law and NPR. Bheem Army chief Chandrashekhar supported the ongoing protest against the CAA and NRC here. He made a strategy with the officials of the respective organizations to make the bandh a success. Although there is not much input on the bandh, but in terms of security, the city has been divided into 5 zones and the police force has been deployed. SP City Shweta Choubey said that by providing separate PAC to each police station, instructions have been given to be vigilant.

The supporters of bandh will gather at the protest site around 10:30 am on Sunday. From here, a procession will be reached via Kanak Chowk, Eslehal, Gandhi Park, Ghantaghar, Darshan Lal Chowk and Inamulla Building, where a memorandum will be given to the administration. Late-night police and intelligence officials connected to the bandh supporters and clarified that if an attempt is made to forcefully stop, action will be taken.
