Mumbai: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a significant contract worth over Rs.11,000 crore from Adani Power Limited and its subsidiary Mahan Energen Limited. This deal is for the development of three Supercritical Thermal Power projects, marking a major milestone in India's power infrastructure.

The contract, finalized on August 25, includes the supply of essential equipment and oversight of the installation and commissioning for these large-scale projects. Each power plant will have a capacity of 2x800 MW and utilize advanced Supercritical Technology. The projects will be set up at Kawai Phase-II and Kawai Phase-III in Rajasthan, and Mahan Phase-III in Madhya Pradesh.

BHEL's role involves delivering a full range of equipment, such as Boilers, Turbines, Generators, and necessary auxiliaries. The agreement also covers control and instrumentation systems, with BHEL responsible for their installation and ensuring they meet all operational and performance criteria.

The timeline for the completion of each project varies: Kawai Phase-II is expected to finish in 49 months, Kawai Phase-III in 52 months, and Mahan Phase-III in 55 months. These durations reflect the complexity and scale of the projects, with BHEL committed to meeting these deadlines.

The contracts were awarded by Adani Power Limited and Mahan Energen Limited, both of which are domestic companies. There is no indication of involvement from promoters or related parties in the awarding process, ensuring that the contracts are conducted at arm's length.
