Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan recently said that, effective implementation of 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain' in all districts of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, he also said that 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this campaign on World Water Day and said that the country's self-reliance is dependent on water resources and water connectivity. Our ancestors left water for us, now it is our responsibility to conserve water for the coming generations. The more rainwater we save, the less our dependence on groundwater will be reduced. We should make every effort to collect rainwater'.

Apart from this, he said, under the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain' program, a rainwater harvesting campaign will be run in rural and urban areas across the country and its slogan will be - wherever it falls, whenever it falls, collect rainwater. The water structures and the encroachments around it should be removed and their repair and renovation should be done. Small rivers and water sources should be revived along with the community. With this, the Chief Minister said, 'Water conservation work plan should be implemented based on the nature of water sources and land available in the district. GIS mapping of all water structures of the state should be done and their lists should be prepared district-wise. Jal Shakti Kendras should be established at the district headquarters. These centers will act as broadcasting centers of information, awareness, and knowledge about water conservation and promotion. '

With this, he further said, 'Water conservation development work should be taken under MNREGA for water conservation and GIS for all gram panchayats. A based watershed development plan should be prepared. For the first time in the country after independence, the government is seriously working on water testing. During the Kovid epidemic in the country, 4.5 lakh women were tested for water testing. In this campaign of water testing, sisters and daughters living in the village are being added. Effective action should be taken in this direction also in the state.
