Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar made her debut with Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015 and it was only after two years that she starred in her next film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ which entered the 100 crore club. Subsequently, she reunited on screen with Ayushmann Khurrana in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan which won the hearts of the audience and critics alike.
Talking about her successful 2017 when it comes to the professional front, Bhumi said to a leading daily, "2017 marked the start of my new life. Dum Laga Ke Haisha brought me a lot of luck. But I feel I have made a concrete place for myself in the industry, thanks to things that happened this year. Now, I know that I am here and have been accepted. So, from here on, it’s just a matter of how long and far do I tread [on this journey]. Also, this year, there have been so many first time experiences including my first 100 crore film and signing films with two directors Zoya Akhtar and Abhishek Chaubey to whom I always wanted to work with. So, it has been a phenomenal and an overwhelming year."
Since 2016 saw no releases of Bhumi's, was she happy with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan's success? "More than being successful, I am happy about the kind of impact Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan had on people, especially since they weren’t run-of-the-mill films. They were very special films and I was lucky to be a part of them. Every success or step of yours that works out well gives immense happiness at the end. And I don’t think any of your past success or failure can dampen that," Bhumi stated.
