Haryana Assembly Election: Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta were among the key candidates who submitted their nominations for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The state is set to go to the polls on October 5, with counting scheduled for October 8.
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda filed his nomination from the Garhi Sampla Kiloi constituency in Rohtak. Accompanied by his family, including his wife Asha Hooda, son Deepender Hooda, and daughter-in-law Sweta Hooda, the Congress leader also performed a 'havan' before submitting his papers.
Meanwhile, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, who is seeking re-election, filed his nomination from the Panchkula constituency. Gupta was supported by BJP leader Biplab Kumar Deb during the nomination process.
In addition, BJP candidate Shakti Rani Sharma filed her nomination for the Kalka seat. She later held a roadshow in her constituency, accompanied by her husband, former Union minister Venod Sharma, and her son, Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma.
The deadline for filing nominations is September 12, with scrutiny to follow on September 13. Candidates have until September 16 to withdraw their nominations.
The legislative assembly elections in Haryana are set to take place on October 5, 2024, where all 90 seats in the Haryana Legislative Assembly will be contested. The votes will be counted, and the results will be announced on October 8, 2024.
