Biden names Indian-American diplomat Puneet Talwar as his envoy to Morocco

United State President Joe Biden has declared his intention to appoint Puneet Talwar, an Indian-American diplomat, as the country's ambassador to Morocco. According to the White House, Talwar, who is currently a Key Advisor at the State Department, has held senior national security and international policy posts at the State Department, the White House, and the Senate.

He was previously the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, and a Senior Professional Staff Member at the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Talwar has also held critical positions in the United States House of Representatives and the State Department's Policy Planning Staff.

He's worked as a Senior Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute, a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Penn Biden Center, a Counselor for the conflict resolution NGO InterMediate, and a non-resident Scholar at Georgetown University's Center for Security Studies outside of government.

Talwar graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University. He is a Washington, DC native and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
