A video of U.S President Joe Biden's statement on the terrorist attack on Afghanistan's Kabul airport four days ago has gone viral. Desi Twitter shocked Bollywood fans that the statement had a familiar ring to it - it sounded similar to a dialogue from the 1991 film Saudagari, by actor Raj Kumar. ISIS on Thursday attacked the crowded gates of Kabul airport in a suicide bombing that killed many civilians and at least 13 US service members. US President Joe Biden soon pledged to retaliate against the attackers. "We will respond with force and precision, at our time, at the place of our choice and at the moment of our choice," he said.
Compare his words with the dialogue delivered by Raaj Kumar in Saudagar: " We will kill you. We will definitely kill you. But we will choose the gun, we'll choose the bullet and we will choose the time when we do it.)" The phrasing of the two sentences sounds strikingly similar - as several Twitter users noticed after a popular Instagram page juxtaposed the two videos together. "Inspiration comes the strangest of places," wrote industrialist Harsh Goenka while sharing the video.
IAS Awanish Sharan was also among the dozens of desi Twitter users amused by the similarity. He even found a possible reason for it. Mr. Sharan, after sharing the video, also posted a Wikipedia screenshot revealing that the White House Director of Speechwriting is an Indian-American. The video, meanwhile, has racked up thousands of views and 'likes' on the micro-blogging platform.
