Bangalore: Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, the BJP has suffered a major blow. Actually, former CM Jagdish Shettar has reached the Karnataka Pradesh Congress office today and joined the Congress. During this, many leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, were present. After standing in front of the Congress, Shettar said that, as a senior leader, no one could understand my insult.

He said, I made the BJP party. The BJP has given me respect, rank, and status. Maine bhi party ko banakar, wah sab baap lauthaya hai. I have won from Hubbali-Dharwad for the sixth time by 20–25 thousand votes. I am now going there for the seventh time. At the same time, Congress National General Secretary (Karnataka in-charge) Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted that a new chapter, a new history, a new beginning... Former BJP CM, former BJP President, former Leader of the Opposition, and six-time MLA, Shri. Jagdish Shettar, has joined the Congress family today.'

Let it be known that earlier Congress leaders Surjewala, Siddaramaiah, and DK Shivakumar had met Jagdish Shettar in Bengaluru. Shettar arrived in Bengaluru from Hubli in a special helicopter on Sunday and held talks with Congress general secretary (Karnataka in-charge) Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress state chief DK Shivakumar, former minister MB Patil, and senior Congress leader Shamanur Sivashankarappa.
