In fact, the department is changing the standard set for eligible persons taking rations from government ration shops. The draft of the new standard is now almost ready. According to the Department of Food and Public Distribution, at present, 80 crore people across the country are taking advantage of the National Food Security Act. There are many of them who are financially well. Keeping this in view, the Ministry of Public Distribution is going to change the norms. In fact, now the new standard will be made completely transparent so that there is no disturbance of any kind.

Why are there changes?
In this connection, the Food and Public Distribution Department has reported that a meeting is being held with the states for the past several months regarding changes in the norms of ration. New norms are being formulated for the characters incorporating the suggestion made by the States. Soon these standards will be finalized. After the new norms come into force, only the eligible persons will be benefited, ineligible people will not be able to get the benefit. This change is being done keeping in mind the needy.
