After receiving the ransom call, SP South Aparna Gupta was constantly looking into the matter. When the miscreants asked for a ransom of 30 lakhs, the family immediately informed them. Subsequently, SP South and Inspector Ranjit Rai laid a trap to catch the miscreants. On July 13, the family and police arrived at the Kidnappers' reported hideout (Gujini flyover). After this, Sanjit's father Chaman Yadav brought bags filled with ransom amount.

The crooks reached the railway crossing. At the behest of the kidnappers, the police threw the bag full of money down from the flyover. The miscreants escaped from there immediately with the bags. After this, SP South issued a statement that the police were not present there with the family. The role of Govind Nagar CO Manoj Kumar Gupta in the entire case was also suspicious.
