New Delhi: In today's era, every third person uses online gaming. In this regard, the Central Government has prepared a draft of new rules for online gaming companies. According to this, along with creating a self-regulatory system for these companies, a provision has been made to make mandatory the verification of their addresses in India.
As per the draft of the new rules, online gaming companies will be brought under the new IT Act (Information Technology Rules). These rules were issued in the year 2021 for social media companies. The ministry has sought people's opinions on the draft of these rules related to the regulation of online gaming till January 17, after which the new rules are expected to be ready by the beginning of February.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has made it mandatory for online gaming companies to comply with the laws applicable in India in the draft rules. Along with this, it has been said that all the laws related to gambling or betting will apply to these companies. Regarding these draft rules, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that gaming companies will not be allowed to place bets on the outcome of any game. "As per the principles laid down under the rules, betting on the outcome of the game shall be prohibited," he said. In the information issued by the MIETY Ministry, it has been said, 'The purpose of these new rules is to ensure the growth of online gaming activities as well as to conduct them in a responsible manner.'
