PM Narendra Modi has started the torch of Chess Olympiad at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Sunday. He handed over the torch to 5-time world champion Viswanathan Anand. This torch is going to pass through 75 cities of the country to reach Mahabalipuram, where the 44th Chess Olympiad is being organized from July 28. The PM has said that he is proud that such a big international event of chess has been organized in his place of birth. Chess India spread all over the world in the form of Chaturanga, now the torch of Chess Olympiad is being taken out from here.

The Prime Minister has said that talent is not only being discovered through Khelo India, but it is also being sculpted. Through these games, the 2024 Paris Olympics and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are being targeted.

FIDE President gave the torch to the PM: Meanwhile, FIDE President Arkady Dvarkovic handed over the torch to the Prime Minister. The PM has said about this that he is happy that the torch of FIDE Chess Olympiad is being started with India. It is also a matter of happiness that wherever Chess Olympiad will be held, its torch is going to start from India.

Prime Minister Modi has told members of the Indian team Koneru Humpy, Divya Deshmukh, Vidit Gujrati in the Olympiad present in the ceremony that they will play fiercely in Mahabalipuram. His victory is going to be a victory of sportsmanship. He said that this time India's biggest team is going to be seen playing in the Olympiad. He hopes that this time the Indian team will create a new medal record. The Prime Minister said that while the country has given sports like wrestling, Malkhamb for physical development, games like Chaturanga have been invented for mental development.
