One of the most renowned Filmmakers Vidya Sagar Reddy who has given various hit films in the industry passes away. He plays a very significant role in the development of South Industry.  The filmmaker Sagar aka Vidya Sagar Reddy passes away at 70. The veteran producer left for his heavenly abode after battling a long illness.

According to the information Vidya Sagar Reddy was reported to be unwell for quite some time and breathed his last at his Chennai residence this early morning. Sagar made his directorial debut with Rakasiloya in 1983. He has directed 35 films during his span as a filmmaker. His breakout film was Stuvartpuram Dongalu, which was a runaway hit.  He is born in Guntur in 1952 and worked in various capacities as a film editor and assistant director for many Telugu movies before wielding the MegaPhone in 1983.

The veteran director has worked with various big names in his career span. He has worked with Bhanu Chander, Suman, and even Krishna Ghattamaneni. Sagar had a long list of assistants and some of them such as Srinu Vaitla, VV Vinayak, Ravi Kumar Chowdhary, and G Nageswara Reddy went on to become successful directors. Various people took to social media to pay tribute to the veteran producer.

Srinu Vaitla tweeted on Thursday, “It is extremely painful to know that my guru Sagar garu is no more. He took care of all his assistants very affectionately and taught many valuable things. He was a great support for all of us. You will be remembered forever sir Om Shanthi (sic).”

On the work front, Vidya Sagar Reddy started his film career as a film director with ‘Rakasi Loya’ in the year 1983 starring Naresh and Vijaya Shanti in the lead roles. Later he directed several super hit films with happening Telugu actors of his time such as ‘Amma Donga’, ‘Khaidi Brothers’, 'Stuwartpuram Dongalu', 'Rama Sakkanodu', 'Action no.1', 'Anveshana', 'Oosi Naa Maradala', 'Daaku' and other popular films.
