Ahead of the start of India's campaign in two international friendly matches against Bahrain and Belarus, Indian senior men's football team head coach Igor Stimac says his boys are going to continue to be brave in their match against hosts Bahrain on Wednesday. Stimac announced on Monday ahead of the friendly matches that seven new faces Prabhsukhan Gill, Hormipam Ruiva, Anwar Ali, Roshan Singh, VP Suhair, Danish Farooq and Aniket Yadav have been included in the 25-member Indian squad.
Keeping the selection in mind, he said that I want to give my players a chance to play against good opponents and I hope that when they are on the field tomorrow, they will adopt a brave attitude too. I will try to pick my best starting XI with some fresh faces. I want to see how they perform against the higher-ranked teams so that he can assess them for the qualifiers later in June.
Asked about the selection of the team, Stimac said that it has been a very difficult season, but at the same time, it has been exciting as well. I had to make sure that half the Indian players who played in Hero ISL this season were on my list. There were other players who did well, but because of injuries, I didn't want to risk calling them here.
